I feel like I am failing my dad when I play bad.

Elijah's answer

That is heavy for a kid to carry. Your dad can care deeply and still not understand how much pressure his face puts on you. Sometimes parents think they are helping, but you start reading every look like a grade. You need to separate love from performance. Say this when things are calm. "I need to know you are proud of me even when I play bad." That is not soft. That is honest. You should play hard because you love the game. Not because you are trying to earn your place at home.
